I cannot remember where I found this, but this seems so appropriate...mid-week, almost spring, almost year-end. Sometimes we just need to take a few breaths and just be.

I'm not here to review movies or books with literary wit or cynical comments. I'll tell you what I loved and why I loved it.
This movie makes me want to give my car up for a second hand scooter. It makes me want to start lecturing again. It makes me believe in starting over and being okay. Perfect date movie. Go and see it.
signs of spring

It was time for yet another walk with the husband and the dogs in the 'hood. When you walk instead of drive, your senses are exposed to the colours, quality of light, sounds and smells of your surroundings. You are aware of the change of season so much more and you discover that nature has it's own way in the city.
Although I usually like winter, this one was particularly hard. I constantly found myself not dressing warm enough, not seeing the sun, working too hard and smiling too little. So, it's definitely time for spring, for sun-filled afternoons, braais, long walks and sunscreen.

The picture above says it all - what better way to spend the rest of the afternoon? Cheers to zero Sunday blues!
gautrain

The moment has arrived. The Gautrain is up and running and it is bliss! I went to Gallagher Estates today for Decorex and it was so effortless and relaxing. Much, much better than taking a car. I remember about five years ago when I told my students about the Gautrain - how some of them cynically rolled their eyes and thought I was crazy to be this excited about public transport.
This is going to change so much for us - how we do business, how we go to meetings, how we shop, how we use other modes of public transport. Yes, yes - I know it's not going to change the world, but it made my world a little better.
Here are a few photos from my iPhone.
I'm not exactly sure why this guy is carrying a golf club...
The Pretoria Station Drop-off-and-go. This is part of a historical structure. Nicely integrated in the use of the new station.
The urban warrior. iPod in ears, Prada shades, suigstokkie in mouth, Urban scarf and a lot of attitude.
Pretoria Station platform.
Pretoria Station.
